  • 1/2 cup yellow onion diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Patties:
  1. In a mixing bowl, gently combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, and seasonings. Mix lightly to keep the meat tender.Shape into oval patties about 1/2 inch thick.

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.Sear the patties for 4–5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through (internal temperature 160°F / 71°C).Remove and set aside to rest.
Make the Gravy:
  1. In the same skillet, melt butter.Add mushrooms and onions; sauté until golden brown.Sprinkle in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth.Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
Combine and Serve:
  1. Return the patties to the skillet, coat with gravy, and simmer for 2–3 minutes.Serve hot with mashed potatoes, green beans, or rice.
